I have been on the forum for a while now and havent really introduced myself!
names Nathan, 25, livin in west wales (miles from anythin, but the roads are awsome!
)
Im a qualified fabricator/welder/engineer. have been playing with cars most of my life and have had numerous jobsincluding building circuit/rally cars and kit cars.
Only been back in the uk about 4 months, was living in Adelaide, South Australia for about 2 years, but missed the roads and GTi's too much! am starting to miss the aussie weather though
and building custom Harleys was pretty good fun too!
Had my first mk2 when i was about 15.....
She wasnt the prettiest! but i learnt alot, removed the 1.1 and replaced it with a hydro 1.3 with a ported/polished head (wasnt too bad for a first attempt!)
Then a few years passed, and a few volvo's
but then i got back on the right track with a 200pound mk3 GL (i think)
She did me well for about a year, 2 head gaskets, and she spat out 4 gear, but i was doing about 90miles a day getting to work and back, and it was all mountain roads......lots of fun!
but sooon got bored of how it looked......so.........
Then i got hold of my first 1.8 8v GTi, had it for about 8 months before i left for Australia, only cost me 350quid and loved it! always made me smile
Once i moved back to the uk there was only one car for me and luckily this turned up on ebay local to me......
only drove her 30 miles and she's now in the workshop in bits! currently building a 2ltr 8v, then its porsche brakes, poly bushes, re-piant and powdercoat everythin and the pile of new VAG bits keeps growing!
Cant wait for her to be done now!
