I remember a few of you guys lucky and intelligent to have DSG ( :lipsrsealed: ) had some teething problems with the box. One of the issues was the kangeroo jump effect when moving off and at very low speed < 10mph.  The problem has got worse on mine so its going into the dealers on Monday.

The Master Tech who looked at it a week ago when I booked it in said he had seen this issue before and it required a software update - but wanted to keep it for 2 days   The thing is I am sure some of you with a similar problem had some of the DSG ancillary mechanicals replaced so I am wondering whether it really is just a software issue.  Also, the problem seems to get worse the longer the car has been driven (i.e. when it is warmed up).  In warmer weather it is more noticeable - or that might just be me imagining things.  Also, it seems to be more pronounced when moving off on an uphill gradient.  I suppose I'll know if the Tech is right (or talking out of his backside) after I collect the car on Wednesday/Thursday.  I'm going to make sure its got 30 miles of fuel left in the tank so they don't cane the poor thing while its in their hands
I have the same issue,...sub 10mph after a long drive, the car has this horrible kangeroo effect, it doesn't happen in manual mode or sport mode, only in drive and reverse. I have had my car in loads of times and my local dealer have taken tons of readings and measurements, VW Germany saying nothing wrong, live with it!!!

I would be very interested in what your dealer says,...please let us know.

Quick prayer for your car!!

this only happens to me when i place it from neutral to drive and accelerate to quickly before the gear has engaged, its probably not the same thing  but try just waiting a second after engaging drive.  :undecided:
Just a thought

Not the same thing - I get a shunt from the transmission if I slam the accelerator too fast.  This DSG problem is something else

Can't believe you've been so patient.  All I can say is if it doesn't get sorted after a couple of visits, I will demand the box be changed.

You bet,.....to be honest, I find it better in manual in slow traffic and leave it in 1st while crawling through traffic, I find the control is better than it is with full auto, less need to use the brake,...I have had so many readings taken on the box, blocks, etc etc and all are within the necessary limits so they won't touch the box or change any software,....

Please let me know how things go mate, as if your dealer finds a resolve, I'll get some details from you and forward it to my local dealer to get mine sorted!!!

Mechatronic vallve block faulty, its solenoid controlling first and reverse gear faulty, had mine replaced but took about a month to get VW to own up to it. Gets worse the longer you drive the car especially after long run on motorway,  pulll up on slip road car kangaroos away from standing start. Also when in traffic and g box gets hot first and reverse gears. the reverse problem was the worse as nearly wiped out the back of the car when parking. This problem is known to VW but at £1200 a pop they wont replace it uless you kick up a fuss.

Thats what I think it is... I have heard that before.  Well there's 2 years warranty left on my car so VW aren't going anywhere with this one

I had a problem with the mechatronics module on the dsg 'box.  Whenever i put it in tiptronic (paddle) mode, there was no transmission (pressing the accelerator would only rev the engine without drive to the wheels).  Switched the car off, then on again - this would fix the transmission, but the airbad, power steering and traction control warning lights were continuously on.  Took it into the dealers and they replaced the mechatronics module, and haven't had the problem since

By the way, praying does help as the car came back unscathed and couple of miles extra on the clock (mind you, it does help if you have about 2 litres of fuel in the tank before you give the car )  Hope your car gets fixed soon and hope they don't give you a fox as a replacement car

right just to add a few points there are a number of dsg ecu gearbox updates regarding this issue, also vw look at every dsg fault as a fresh fault they dont look at it as a common problem so the liklyhood of you getting a new dsg box is slim to none. you are right in saying they have had issues with the mech units but like i just said its a 2 grand bill to vw so they need to make sure it is going to cure your car before they fit it a new one, costly guess you would agree. Dsg boxes are not made in the same factory as the cars in germany if you have a faulty dsg mech unit they will then make you one to order on a one for one basis (dont have them on the shelf like a oil filter) just thought that might help as a few people are complaing about going back to the dealer a couple of time and saying that they want new boxes its just the way it is or you could just leave your car there for a week why they do all there checks etc. one last thing tech dont rag the cars you brought a gti for a reason to drive it hard so enjoy it.
