Explain vagcom pls

Dont really know what it is been reading some post here and i take it you plug it to your car and reads codes? my airbag light is on my car if i bought this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAG-COM-USB-VW-Audi-Car-Diagnostic-Code-Reader-OBD-2_W0QQitemZ200262764890QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200262764890&_trkparms=72%3A1301|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1308&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14  will it tell me the fault and also clear the light? i have a mk4 1998 but has 2002 engine in it.In another words does it work as a diagnostics machine? sorry im new to this.

Are any of the above products ones to go for?
80% of your posts are total tripe, as they are mostly replies to sh1te posts created by the morons that, unfortunately this forum attracts.

depends some people have bought the cheap ones for about 30 quid and can get a reading from them but honestly the original ross tech one is by far the best

But if all you want to do is reset the airbag light then surely not worth paying so much more?

If you only want it to reset the light and read/reset fault codes get one of these:

Not a patch on vag com but still good. You WONT be able to change any settings ETC like vag com.

So the two above will change settings?

With a vag com lead and a laptop you can do allsorts of things like:

Enable anti hijack, one touch open, Alarm beep when lock/unlock, data logging ,  throttle body alignment to name a few.

As well as faut code reading clearing reset dash light etc.  :smiley:

If you mean genuine lead or non genuine lead the non genuine stuff from ebay etc is very hit and miss best to go for genuine lead from here:
