....

Guys, I'm sorry to point out that "Edition 30 will be limited to 1,500 units" is absolutely not the same as a special "Limited Edition" which, by definition, would have been numbered as such anyway.

But you have missed the crucial point.  That article clearly states "1500" - wording which "pads out" such clearly defined numbers is irellevent.

Just hope you get your plaques, chase it up, but move on and enjoy what is a great VeeDub.

Agreed.  But I would be pi$$ed off too.

....Imo, life's too short to get p!ssed off by such matters. Worse things happen at sea, etc.

So VW have clearly screwed up for which they have apologised. As expected anything that doesn't involve payment by the customer takes longer than you having the leverage of holding back payment.

Im annoyed it has taken longer than promised, but to be honest I expected it and as such am happy to wait. The good news at least is they have now been produced and should be with us soon.

Keep the faith!

I agree Greenouse, but I still concerned by the responses I have seen from VW regarding the plagues so will continue to put this all in writing to them.

I can't complain too much about the overbuild as I am one of the 800 people who benefited from it.

I agree with the approach your taking Steve and would never knock you for going to the effort you have! This is taking far too long but Im sure VW will come good.

Now you put it that way Im sure my car would have been part of the 'overbuild' too!  (Mar 08)

Robin, read what it says in MATed30. I could be mistaken , but dont they say "LIMITED" in their headline??

But that info which was quoted by MAT is NOT from an official source, and is therefore meaningless, and has no legal status whatsover.  Just journos spewing out bollox.

T_T, vw driver had a section a few months back about these plaques are coming, so maybe some truth in it after all.

Fairy nuff, but did VW Driver make any official comments on the production run of 1500 units?
Yes they did T_T , i have the issue here somewhere amongst my Ginsters wrappers

thats the one i have too, i have a further page that one has a name of David Allen (product manager) as the sender

what about informing PVW, Golf+, EVO, Top Gear, edition 38, club GTi, newspapers, 5th gear - basically anyone in the motoring world with some sort of clout - or to sufficiently embarass VW - we all bought a car that was sold to us all as a 1500 only production run ONLY - not god knows how many more !!

Is there any actual written evidence of the production run being limited to just 1500 cars.  If there is, and it is verifiable, then all 2300 Ed30 could actually sue Volkswagen for breach of contract - either as individuals, or as a group action.  Trading Standards - preferably the Trading Standards for Milton Keynes council (because that is where VW UK is officially based) would definately offer some advice, and may even take up your case.  It is basically selling goods under "misrepresentation".

....I think you would lose your case on this question of being sold to as a 1,500 production only because you will most likely find that there is no written evidence to VW limiting their production run. A "Special Edition" is not the same as a "Limited Edition" and no Limited Edition was ever declared.

I agree on being cautious with the wording - however, if verifiable official sources give a definative number, ie "1500", then the wording is irrelevent, and if VW did build, and more importantly, SELL 1501 or more Ed30s, then they have clearly mis-sold a product.  UK law is very clear on these issues.  But the real crux is actually finding the correct official info.

How's this
