No worries, Wilko  - We are all just being honest in expressing our opinions. I stick absolutely rigidly to the 20,30,40,50 limits but use my own judgement elsewhere. I'm glad to say that most unmarked Police drivers use their discretion.

It's very rare nowadays to find a Policeman who is rude to you and if they stop you there is always a valid reason. They are trained to do their best to keep you calm. However, if you get snotty with them you'll come off a lot worse.

K,

I'm 23 I have a clean license and never had an accident, 5 years no claims ( personal) 1 years no claims (company car)... No mean feat seeing as i've been driving in London for 2yrs and managed to avoid the swarm of kamikaze motorcyclists.

The closest i've come to an accident is when I hit a collapsed cornish hedge in a storm in cornwall and stuffed up my front bumper...

I really think young drivers just need to know their limits, ive had the pleasure of driving lots of supercars through dad's garage and I honestly think if you respect the power, and learn that its not what you're doing it's what everyone else is doing on the road. I.E not to go " i dont kno where that car has gone in my blind spot so im just gonna overtake anyway"

The safest place to drive is in the motorways and most accidents happen on A roads, problem with these roads is sometimes they're 60 limits and no way in hell you would do 60 down them, i can imagine someone new to driving would think oh great i can do 60 and then come a croper..

I couldn't agree more! Although, as to why the A13 is a 40 in some sections I have no idea, I seem to cause more hassel driving at 40!

I have to question the maturity of those who run this site if they post comments that either encourage it or which tend to make themselves sound cool by such attitudes.

I spent some time contemplating a retort to this, that may accurately convey my feelings.

But all I could come up with was BOOBIES BOOBIES BUMS AND WILLIES!

I'm with you there Wob, use the A13 everyday, and people just don't adhere to speed limits and then brake hard before all of the speed cameras. It would be safer imo if the authorities would change these sort of 3-lane A-roads to maybe national speed limit rather than have it at 40 and stick a camera every 1/2 mile!

....If the Police go as far as stopping you it's invariably for one (or more) of these reasons : -

1 - Your driving - which includes behaviour and/or speed.

2 - The state of your car raises a question of safety or legality.

3 - To check your car/driver/insurance etc details. Might be ANPR generated.

In other words, they will 999 times out of 1,000 be totally justified in stopping you. If you are displaying the same sort of attitude towards them as the tone of your posted words, it shouldn't surprise you how you get treated in response.

And so, regarding the "Poor Bloke" subject of this thread, I don't care what he was driving - He'll have been stopped for good reason, of that there can be very little doubt - Even if it was only to inform him a door wasn't properly closed.
