due to the missus being ill and hospitalised for a few days (and now waiting on her hand and foot till she's better) I haven't had much chance to do anything apart from getting the valance and skirts painted. But yesterday I managed to palm the kids off to my parents so I though I'd have a bash at getting the front valance fitted

Valance painted

Now as it's a replica it doesn't have the push fit tabs to secure it to the bumper so I had to have a think about how it was to be secured.

so I set about with the drill and some self tappers

These were to temporarily hold it in position

The tabs that were present under the centre grille area were secured like this

and the rest was screwed down through the valance and bumper flange where they meet. This is a good place as it pulls the valance up to meet the bumper

and voila

Fitted, would you really ever know it was a rep?

Been a while  :embarassed:

Anyways I got my skirts on a few weeks ago, might flare them out a bit more yet

I'm taking the back box off tomorrow and cutting the tailpipes off

Whoops - Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 30 days  :embarassed:

Anyways I've been busy with the house so not had a lot of spare time but I've managed to do a few bits:

New Turborevs intercooler was fitted, can't beat these for the money

Tailpipes have been lopped off and the downturn pipes welded on by my mate at work

Diesel Anni valance is ready to be fitted, should be doing that this evening

I've started my black headliner too

and fitted

pillar covers just need finishing off then they can go back in

I've fitted a black header tank cap and also sprayed the washer bottle cap black to finish the engine bay off but haven't got a pic, will take one when I get a chance

Anni rear valance is on

Header tank and washer bottle cap in black

Headlining is now finished, just need to get some decent pics of it. Replaced probably 80% of the bits with genuine anni parts in the end

A few pics of the parts

Took the Golf up to R-Tech and had it custom mapped finally

Not a bad result, 225bhp with 256lb/ft torque

A FMIC is on the cards next though just to keep the temps safe

I will also be testing my repair skillz with this wheel after the missus got too close to the kerb...

Calibra yellow injectors sourced, VR6 MAF housing found and FMIC on the way

injectors will be ultrasonically cleaned and a refurb kit fitted to make sure they are in top condition before they are fitted. The FMIC might not fit behind the standard bumper yet, will have to see when it arrives.

Just enjoying the new power at the mo, feels great

injectors are back from cleaning, thanks to dave_iow for getting them sorted. I'm currently fitting the refurb kit to them so they should be good as new. FMIC is here, will see how well it fits over the next couple of days

ABD cooler was going to take too much work to make fit so it's been sold again and a THS intercooler bought to replace it

it needs a small bit of modifying to fit so I took the crash bar off and drilled the spot welds out to enable a metal plate to be removed

The metal that needs removing

and out after a bit of beating with a hammer and chisel

the intercooler hanger bolted on

Will get a pic of it on the car as it is now in a bit. I've used Dave's spare bumper as mine needs trimming and I haven't had the time yet

I've got hold of a spare airbox lid thanks to daz_veedub so that can be modified to accept the VR6 MAF housing so I won't lose the use of my current one. I should also have a manual boost controller here soon to help with the next stage of tuning.

I've also decided to fit a set of oil temp/pressure gauges just to monitor what's going on. I've bought a dual pod for the A pillar and will be using these gauges

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230678615498?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

the pod will be trimmed in the same material as I used to cover the headlining

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150687402297?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Wayne has kindly supplied me with everything I need to get the gauges plumbed in so this should be happening as soon as the gauges are here and I trim up the pod

A pic of the THS intercooler fitted, not got round to trimming my bumper yet so I've still got Dave's

Managed to bag myself a set of vRS 256mm vented rear brakes this week along with a bigger manifold as I may be going with a different turbo at some point...

Will strip the paint off the calipers over the Xmas holidays and paint them red to match the fronts

Manifold just needs a good going over with a wire brush and it will look good as new, will get the QS bloke at work to check the surfaces are nice and flat before fitting

The manual boost controller arrived as well, nice bit of kit for a tenner

Just need some pipe and T pieces and I have everything I need for the next stage of mapping on the K03s

I wasn't happy with the amount of joins in the oil sensor adapter so I asked my mate at work if he could make me something up and this is the result

Before there were four joins now there are just two. I've done this for all the parts so there is less chance of a leak

No more spending out on things for now, the credit card needs to be paid off first and I've got plenty to be getting on with over the winter, I've also got my wheel to repair and the seat base to fit. Might even get round to washing it
