Standard cover is one year breakdown cover.

I got 3 year breakdown cover with mine

I don't know if it is available with a approved used car though

I got 1 years cover when I bought a 6 month old used GTi.  It was a bit of a surprise for me as I thought I didn't think I would get any.

Yep, I am sure you get one years cover with VW approved used cars with the normal option to extended.

Fortunately I haven't had to use them since I had an old Passat estate company car about 7 years ago but always found them to be pretty good.

Had to use them once. Called them only for a RAC van to turn up.... quite sure they use whoever is closest to your location. Luckily for me the mechanic was a former VW engineer

You get 12 months with any new car (except Touareg and Phaeton which are 36mth). And 12 months with any Approved Used Car which all VW dealers subscribe to.

It is car specific, not owner specific. You don't get a membership card anymore so always ask the dealer for a screen print to confirm the cover has been set up.

The cover is with VEA (Volkswagen Emergency Assistance) which is handled by the RAC. 9 time sout of 10, it will be the RAC that turn up but you may get Joe Bloggs if you are in the arse end of no-where.

The only info you need if you call them is your reg number. There are no membership numbers anymore. The number will be on the inside of your tax disc holder or here - 0800 777 192. This number can also be called for other situations (where is my nearest dealer?, i've had a crash, etc etc).

Hope this helps

I agree with the above....except you get 3 years if you subscribe to the full servicing and maintenance package :nerd:
