this is very interesting to hear as my vento 1.6 single point injection is doing exactly this for the last few months. its had so many new parts including a brand new vw distributor and a service but still dies in exactly the way youve described, after corners it just loses power slowly and smoothly, then dies down through the revs .
it was only today i noticed it does it after going round a rather sharp bend or round about as i did a 60 mile A road trip with no issues at all appart from commin off the round about to get onto the slip road

. ive found by putting my foot on the clutch, and turning the ignition off and back on again, as it tries to die, will bring it back to life. rather than lettin it stall full and having to wait as uve described.
ive had it on vag com too and it brought up nothing , plus ive had the fuel tank off it as i expected it to be that like youve said. also changed the replays etc so its not that either. im gonna give the throttle body a good cleaning or try and find a replacment, then check any other engine sensors on the weekend. really wana get it sorted out so any other suggestions are welcome

let me know how you get on with the issue and changing the fuel pump as thats somthing ive not looked at yet.
