fuel consumption on my mk3 2.0l gti 16v
« on: 14 September 2008, 18:22 »
recently bought my mk3 2.0l gti 16v , the guy said it was thirsty as it has been re-mapped and now runs at 162bhp , on the motorway the max mpg i can get is 39.8 & i was getting an average 100miles per quarter of a tank , but thru town it`s awful & i`m getting less than half that....
i`ve had it checked at my local garage & it`s coming up on the computer with no faults....
along with the re-map it has a drilled airbox is this m.p.g normal for the mod`s the car has? i`m thinking of taking it to my local vw and seeing what they think....

let me know what you guy`s think... cheers joseph...

40 on the motorway sounds decent. Through town just depends how you're driving I wouldn't think theres too much wrong here, but I'm no expert.

depends on how you drive i can get mine up to 45 mpg but only if i drive like my granny would, normal driving on the motorway, at say 70-80 mph should get you around 40mpg

how ever normal town driving i still get around 25-33 mpg

Thats about right as my old valver with induction/exhaust and blitzchip got around that, thats why it was a no brainer to get me self a vr6, costs me only about £10-15 more a week to run.
