Door strap query on 1997 3 dooor.

Ok I'm a newbie to this site and just taken the plunge on a 1997 Mk3 1.4SE, 3 door GTI looks etc with nice aftermarket alloys too, Ok I know it's not a GTI, but this site looked a good active one. 

Anyway....can anyone help with this little question please?...the drivers side door seems to open too far almost to the point of touching the wing. There looks to be a door strap there, but as yet I've not investigated...Is this a common wearing point on the 3 door, and is it a easy fix??

Can be a common problem mate, just get a new one from a scrapyard for about a fiver, just simply screws on to your exsisting door, only slightly tricky thing is that you have to remove the door card to tighten it from the iside of the door.

cheers for that! thought it'd be easy  will attack it soon. Pics to follow when it's had a good wash/wax and clay  Tho there is one on the 1st post above.

Hey, any pointers or things to look for on a Mk3 1.4 would be appreciated guys
