its got to be forced induction all the way, VR6 is a nice lump, but to tune it cheaply (which can be done on the 1.8t) is impossible.  Plus when it comes to resale your 1.8t will stand you in more, plus look that little bit newer.  remember now the Mk5 is here the older shapes will start to show there age just that bit more and the prices will drop out of the vr6's with in a year or so.  Look at the Punto gt's for example, 2 yrs a go could'nt buy one for less than ?5500. Now they start at ?1500 cos the new ones out and are cheap.

If you find out how to make the 1.8t go pissshhh let me know as everyone says you can't run an atmospheric dump valve.???

Well why not combine both ??

Designer Dubs now offer a bolt on kit for the VR6 to add a turbo !!! 350 bhp out the box with no bottom end work ... now that's interesting   ;D :o

a cool 3.5 grand ... but for 350bhp out the box I'm not too sure what else you could do for the money. It'll go much further too, just not with a stock bottom end - what a platform eh !

To get a 1.8T up to that sorta level has got to cost about the same if not more as it's a smaller engine and will need to run sooooo much more boost to get the power.

What do you reckon ?

im warming to mk3/mk2 vr6's every day! :D :D
if i had 6k id buy a mint g60.

but if i didnt want to do that route i would buy a nice mreg vr6 highline and strap on a nice supercharger to give it 250 bhp,cost an extra 2k!

ohhhhhh vr6's are the choice for that money. :D :D

The vr in a mk2 is a common conversion so i doubt it is a problem.

its common but it still mucks up the handling at the front a bit. i suppose it depends what you want. id rather have a lighter engine. if you want a vr6 just buy a corrado. probably similar price fafter you have done all the work and it will handle better than a mk2 anyway. ;D

After to talking to people that have vr in mk2s that is apparently bollox.
Can't really be sure as i've never driven one.
