anyway been chatting to Steve (gtitdi) and i know how to progress - need to remove the mirror casing stay tuned!! and Bob - i said i forgot that the door cards needed to be removed not that it could be done without removing them

If i remember correctly the two screws don't go into the plastic mirror cap..
Seems like its not so plug and play - ah well CS
