ok where is the thottle body and how do i clean it??  thx any idea which relay, will try all the cheap fixes first.

right car broke down again this morning, went back to it this eveningdrove fine. ive cleaned the throttle body but still the same. taken it to a garage as i cant keep worrying if its gonna die on me. just hope its not gonna cost too much. will let you all know how i get on. dont think i'll ever buy another one it has to be the worst car ive ever had been nothing but trouble. :angry:

sounds more like the usual relay fault if you ask me, and possibly faulty ignition switch is another thing it could be

ignition switch would just be no sparky at all... would it not?

nope...

its exactly the symptoms of what mine did, intermittant working and genrally just pissing me off, if you messed with the wires on the back of the switch it would run, it also would run if you held the key on as far as you could

common fault on the 3 is the ignition switch, changed mine and its now fine (did this after changing all the bleedin relays)

The ignition switch can be a nightmare - I had to replace mine, but the replacement switch went wrong too, so I bypassed it and fitted a starter button - turn key to position 2 & push button. A bit of fun and totally reliable. Don't know quite how it fits though coz my mate fitted it and he understands wiring better than me...  :huh:

right ,car been on a computer and it says  fuel pump relay f--ked and distriber f--ked, anyone tell me which is the fuel pump relay colour or a number and anyone got a distriber for a 20l 8v p reg gti.. thx

i had my fuel relay replased an i think it was the grey 1 dunno its jus the 1 the guy had in his hand lol an distrubuter is expensive from wat i been told so get a 2nd hand 1 from scrappy that looks in gd con!

right latest update, brought distributer from gsf and new reley and still playing up. went back on comp says crank sensor,not happy after paying for parts i didnt need must be a dodgey vag system.. cleaned the crank sensor up and seems ok at the moment so perhaps thats what it is,will buy a new one and see what happens.. :angry:

brought a new crank sensor and so far(touch wood) car been fine no problems so hopefully all ok now.. anyone know how to change front abs sensor as thats my next job..thx
