Kufatec Bluetooth kit
« on: 22 August 2008, 00:24 »
Hi,

I was browsing the Kufatec site as I'm planning on getting the MDI for my GTI. (anyone know any other suppliers btw?) I noticed they offer a Bluetooth phone prep http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p1182_FISCON-Hands-Free-Kit-Volkswagen--Basic-Plus-.html. It offers similar features as the VAG (Skoda) set up I'm using currently, also known as the 'vrstu kit'
In addition however it offers SMS reading, Bluetooth audio streaming (A2DP) and boost pressure/oil temp/tank content/speed readout. Looks like an impressive piece of kit and a possible alternative to retro fitting the VAG kit?

That looks amazing.  Looks like it's pretty easy to fit too, all plugs in round the back of the radio.

It does look very good and was originally designed for the Audi Navi's and is only just this month been released for the VW's.

Some more details can be found at http://www.fiscon-mobile.eu/, it's worth checking the compatible phone list as support for all the features seams to be hit and miss.

I take it you have to have the touch screen headunit for this to work

A version for cars without the RNS-510 touch screen headunit is listed on the fiscon website which is also 50 euros cheaper.

wonder if its plug and play......i don't want to start snipping and jointing cables etc....so theres a version that will work with the MFD2....hmmmm..... tempting.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

It's plug and play but the routing of the cables etc will require a bit of work as it appears that control unit is designed to be installed in the same place as the VAG bluetooth module.

It doesn't require an Sat Nav type headunit (same as VrStu's kit) but will give extra features on the RNS-510 touchscreen. For the support documents the only headunit supported is the RNS-510 and not the MFD2.

The key differences I can see that this has over the VAG kit is the A2DP streaming & SMS reading  (on selected mobiles only) and the extra display for boost, speed (in KPH), oil temp etc in the highline.

And yes there appears to be a version for people with just the Highline comp and not the RNS-510.
