I think that polo does look great, except the dodgy number plate!
In what way is the number plate dodgy? apart from DE font?

Apart from the font?  Thats the problem, its totally illegal and you could get 3 penalty points and a fine.

It may get me a £30 fine for the font if the Police officer was having a bad day but,no points I'm afraid.

I believe some guys forget what it was like to be 17 and having your first car? Most of us did things to our first car which we'd like to forget no doubt
your so right there i had a mk2 escort put big arche's on couldn't afford to spray it, well i could but spent the money on a peco exhaust. thinking back i must have been getting laughed at on every corner its part of growing up.  :lipsrsealed:

I even "jacked" my Mk2 up so the rear was high, using 2 metal strips either side...

Mind you, I was young, fit, and got a LOT of pussy female attention as I was the only guy our age with a car! Everyone else pee'd their wages up against the wall (got drunk every Fri/Sat/Sun)

Those were the days!

Theres no excuse for running plainly illegal plates, but then its your problem I guess if you want your daughter to get a fine and look stupid.

The pic of the red MKV in the LM's thread that I posted up is a typical car that is "all show and no go". The guy who owns it has lavished time and money on a motor that now looks lovely, but with little power. Sometimes you don't need the power and the look is what counts. Other times it is the other way around. I like the Golf 'cos you can choose whichever way you personally want to go and it doesn't matter as long as the person who owns the car is happy :nerd:

I'm not making any excuses, and your 100% correct about the choice part as well.Just as well we still have freedom of choice in the UK

Not if your 17 years old and your old fella insists you insure your own car instead of him insuring it to get the price down
At the VWF on Sunday there was a young lad with a Mk5 (red with Oettinger kit and wheels)typical where a youngster gets their car looking great but,it was a little 1.4.
First impression you think " f**k!!! bet that can go.Cos you think it's gonna be a 2.0t.
Really nice car the lad had and so long as they're happy who cares what us older lot think anyway?

....

Perhaps now is the time to let everyone into my very well kept secret..................................

You all thought that my Mk5 was a highly modified Stage1 GTI. Well, it is a Mk5 but not a GTI. It's a bog standard 1.4 diesel - A sheep in wolf's clothing.
