clutch cable to hydraulic clutch (mk3)

am building a project car with a mate of mine, we have taken a 1.4 out of a mk3 and have a 2.9 vr6 engine to replace it, was wondering about the clutch as the 1400 was clutch cable and the vr a hydraulic, how do we get around this?! pedal box and master cylinder?!  any help would be great!

yep and also the gear shifter too.  You may be able to use the hydro->cable unit as fitted to 16v SEATs, but I'm not sure how well it will fit the VR box due to the differently shaped bellhousing?  Still need to swap the gear shifter over though.  But as the age old question goes, why build something you can buy  :grin:

yeah we get that alot, but its a 2.9 not a 2.8 plus its going supercharged! you cant buy one of those  :wink:

its more my mates project than mine. im just helping out with the engine and mechanical side of things, so thought i would ask that question as im a bit stumped by it.. il be happy when its in and running..  :smiley:

erm pedal box no, slave cyl maybe!  I think a rado/passat slave cylinder would be more suitable.  the pedal boxes are a little different as the brake servo mountings arnt the same in a mk3...  You might be able to use the entire pedal box, servo and slave cylinder from a passat/rado though?  I dont really know enough about the mk3 chassis to say with confidence if the mounting points are the same.

To be safe I'd try to get a MK3 VR6/ABF pedal box, servo, slave etc then you know it'll fit.

i need help with this same thing. 

everything should swap over.   problem i have is my master resivour feeds the clutch master,  so it has an extra pipe,  but this 16v is also ABS so it has another two pipes.  will have to some how block them off as im not fitting ABS to mine.

I suppose the whole thing will swap directly over though?   the gear linkage is cable rarther than rods.   No idea how to take this off yet i havnt pulled the heat shiled off from under the car but i have disconected the cables...

Are they a B**ch to re set?

bleed nippels from mk2 gti rear callipers are excelent for blocking unused ports on the master cylinder
