I don't get any wheelspin now, wet ar dry

....Apart from the quattro feature, which car do you prefer between your Ed30 and the S3?

How long are the clutches lasting on the S3's?

I managed to mince my clutch in 11k miles from new on my remapped TDI quattro :lipsrsealed: :embarassed:

Longer than the clutch packs in a modded DSG ED30

Sorry mate only kiddin, hope you get it sorted soon

It's holding up well at the moment. Gave it a "bit" of a test today and no slip!

Just want the clutchpack now, so I can dial it back up to full power

have you changed the gearbox oil, after following all the threads I think it could help, if the oil has been overheated and maybe contaminated by debris from the clutch pack, it could really help

I'm pretty sure I prefer the S3, although the golf is pretty well screwed together, the build quality of the Audi is far better it feels more solid, the brakes are leagues ahead also. The ED30 was a really quick car, the S3 not as quick, yet , and with the 4WD I'll be able to get the power down.

The 1 thing I do miss from the ED30 is its really keen turn in and sort fun nature if you know what I mean, the S3 does feel more grown up, which isn't always best

It will be interesting to see how the S3 responds to a bit of modding

....Thanks for sharing, gaz.

Someone I know on Biali Motorsport has offered me a drive of his modded S3 when we meet at the end of the month. His new S3 has GIAC Hammer remap, H&R springs and ARB's so far.

Describing Audi's as generally "more grown up" is spot on! But I don't mind growing old, just as long as I don't have to grow up! I'm not knocking Audi's.

....Good idea but also change the DSG filter if you change the oil.

TC on the golf is far too instrusive imho , and would be nice to have adjustable limits
(surely it cant be too long before a software manufacturer does this?).
Like the E46 M3 CSL / CS with track mode , we could have a Golf 'R' button

I have a remap from JD Engineering here in the Netherlands. They adjust the TC so it progressively cuts back the throttle to achieve traction again instead of fully cutting the throttle. Although I have a 'lowly' non ED30 GTI I can put the power down fully and the car will keep accelerating even with a blinking TC light. It only gets caught out in wet and slippery conditions, the TC just can't cope then.

wow thanks Bolle thats news to me.
from the website looks to be 2 systems

1 : The one you have which adjusts the VW traction control limits
2 : Power controller : digital guage and knob , looks a lot like racelogic tc unit or similar

Option 1 as part of a chip tune is VERY attractive.

Can you supply any more info?

thnks
