For the UK, the rear core assembly is around £76 plus VAT.

....That's for the whole lock mechanism - No-one needs to buy that component in this group buy.

Yes, I know.  But like you said in a previous post, if someone doesn't want to run around for a fortnight with the badge cover missing, or if heaven forbid someone accidentally fcuks up the entire mechanism when trying to just remove the cover - then I have just posted a little more info.

Saying all that - if even just a few of us could manage to get hold of a couple of spares, from scrappies, then whilst not helping this particular GB - may well help the TTshop, as a holding "stock" for reluctant future individuals.

Yup, good find.

Mine, a 2007 model year, built 13 June 2006 came with the first one (but didn't have that funny foot in it ), and was replaced sometime in 2007 under warranty for the lower one.

RR one final question regarding the rear badge or should I should ask Charles?

There were two flavours of rear badge, one that was smooth (and prone to worming) and the other with raised VW logo.

Does the type of badge you send in affect the look of the final CF product you receive?

Hello

I just found out on a few early models that the rear emblem was a sticker. This is very RARE.If you have the rear emblem that does not have raised lettering
You can NOT do this in Carbon Fiber.I have not seen this in person but i was told a small amount had a sticker instead of a raised plastic VW logo.
This has to be very limited as VW must have ran out of rear vw emblems and used a sticker on a few MKV GTI's.
If you look at your car you will know the change by looking at it.

its not a sticker, its a more of a metal plate in a round circle, can almost make it out in this pic

My fault it is not a sticker.

I have never seen this in person. It does look metal

....Charles - Is it safe for everyone to assume that it doesn't matter which type (of the 2 photographed here) of rear VW badge they have? - In other words that you can apply carbonfibre to either type.

The flat metal rear VW emblem can NOT be done in carbon fiber.
