no offense boys and girls, but a MOT at a VW dealer isnt going to pick up many problems that would be fixed under warranty.
An MOT is for the road worthiness of the car. Even if the steering rack makes a noise, as long as its road legal, they wont care. Unless you are good mates with the tester, an early MOT isnt going to be that beneficial, unless you know of problems and want a second opinion.
I really wouldn't bother paying out £400, especially to a third party company, keep it and save it in case you need it for any work.
....Fortunately I am good enough mates with the mechanic who usually works on my car and is the MOT tester. Plus it cost me nothing because I was on the full maintenance prepaid plan (3 sets of free tyres too)
OK, RR, that is the exception, rather than the norm, if you are "good mates" with the MoT tester at the stealership. However, I still don't agree with letting ANY franchised dealer carry out an MoT.
For the sake of £45, any decent independent MoT tester will not only test the mandated items, but will also offer a very valuble independent opinion on the overall condition of the car. And should you have any niggling concerns, and extra £10 or £20 to top up his tea and buscuits fund will certainly be better than ANY so called franchised dealer "tech/mech/spanner w@nker"!!
