Slag off a Vauxhall eh?

Not going to slag them off, but I have noticed the following;

Corsa VXR lads believe they have the best/fastest small hatch and some of their owners often compare their cars to cars in the next class up like R32's, ST's etc.

Astra VXR lads believe they have the best/fastest mid sized hatch and some of their owners often compare their cars to cars in the next class up like M3's, Evo's etc.

Vectra VXR lads believe they have the best/fastest family size hatch and some of their owners talk of their cars being able to do 170mph out the box etc.

What is funny is that you could add every bolt on to an Astra VXR with a standard turbo and it will make the same power as an Ed30 with a remap alone. You could add every bolt on to a Vectra VXR with a standard turbo and it will make similar power to an Ed30 with similar mods, and there is a shortfall of 800cc and 2 cylinders on the Ed30.

Each to their own, but while I would never have one, I respect VXR's and love the noise of the Astra and Vectra when modded. However I dont respect the fact that their owners automatically assume their car to be superior or faster than other cars in the same category.

also isnt the corsa supposed to be the fastest small hot hatch just not quite as good handling as the 197? and didnt it beat a record around the nurburgring? i very nearly brought a vxr

Ah, I meant the Astra VXR mate with every bolt on, but not a bigger turbo

Stage 3 Astra VXR makes just under 300bhp with full exhaust, intercooler and remap.

Golf Ed30 makes similar power with remap alone.

Stage 3 Vectra VXR makes similar power as a stage 2/3 Ed30 with TBE, Uprated Intake, Bigger intercooler and uprated fuel pump.

Regarding the Corsa time round the ring, it may well be the case. The Astra had the same accolade for a while too as memory serves. VXR's are cars worthy of peoples respect, but they are just not "all that" for want of a better expression. Where they may gain on the swings, they can lose out on the roundabouts.

The R32 would definately win.. esp if I was driving as i would just aim for the little shizzel!

One second separates a DSG MK5 R32 and a Corsa VXR round the ring if you use the information on Wikipedia it seems....

I think you will find its actually 5 sec's

right then meet up with him today and we had a few goes and i wont lie he was all over me really (couple of car lengths) not until 11* did i feel like i was starting to gain on him

took me out in the car after and itis a rapid little car!

his smurkness really got to me after!! defo time for some tuning

but if he was to fit the turbo and internals etc 300bhp+ not sure what torque.. and he had limited slip diff fittet what sort of mods would you say i would need
