Good video, and he sang its praises. It's starting to grow on me, but i'd still have the GTI over it.

....Seems to be a great car but it simply isn't the true allrounder that a 5-door GTI is. I'll still be having a test drive though.

I was considering asking for my deposit back at VW and hanging on to see if the economy is going to have us all in the gutter by Christmas but seeing the vid has made me want it all the more.Definately going to put BBS 19" on though, not taken with that factory wheel at all!
Good to see Chris Harris, wondered what had happened when he left Autocar.Good site, more good vids on there too.

well...had a test drive today of the TT TDI and the TT-S :) Please bear in mind that I already have a Mk2 TT 3.2 V6 DSG Quattro, along with the A4 diesel which will be sold...I share the TT with my fiance, ie whoever can get the keys first in the morning

TT TDI does not float my boat at all...plenty of torque and the car handles well enough with quattro...but the engine just feels wrong, with a lot more vibration and harshness apparent than I'd like . I'm sure plenty of company car user-choosers will pick one, but not for me :)

TT-S DSG Coupe...wow..lovely car, with plenty of shove from the S3 derived TFSI once the turbo spools up..a fair bit more lag than my Edition 30. Very tempted, but at nearly £40k for the spec I'd like, way too much money at £600 p/m on Audi PCP with a 20% deposit. I could lease one through my new employer, but at a lease payment of £685 p/m with no deposit for a TT-S with no options , still more money than I'd prefer to pay out.

I'll stick with the V6 which has no finance owing at all and have that lovely burble, thank you

So...went over to the VW garage, and had a good chat with the salesman...reckons if I confirm the order in the next week, Scirocco would arrive in mid November/Dec, but perhaps earlier. I've had a word with the finance guy there who wanted to sell me a VW Financial Services PCP at 14.4% APR , and showed him an alternative provider that the same garage used last year for the Edition 30...can get the finance down to 9.7% saving over £50 a month from his first quote

Looks like the Scirocco has the upper hand...A4 diesel will be going, and I'll be back in a Veedub soon

That Drivers Republic site looks very cool! Never seen it before but as a subscriber of Evo for a good few years I'm familiar with a few of the writers.

Back to the original question, I'd go for a Scirocco! It looks like a great car, though I'm sure it could do with a bit more power.
