Yeah Wagenwheels is the way to go if it's not too far to travel, poor old Ian is flat out at the moment trying to get several customers cars ready for inters.

Tin do you get down there much?

he had my 16v for 6 months in the latter half of last year. it got to be a standing joke to be honest as whenever he said "car will be ready in X days/weeks/months" you had to double it everytime.

everything conspired against getting the golf finished. none of it was his fault, its just one of those things.

i used to drive the 180 mile round trip every so often just to visit the golf, and say Hi to it. kiss it  :-*, hug it, read it stories. that sort of thing.  ::)

it'll be back down there late this year or early next year for a long stay as it still needs alot doing to it. dont get me wrong, its a great car and great finish, i just need to pencil another ?xk into my schedule and make into an even greater original car.

my eventual aim in two years is to show it at concours at Inters. and unlike all the other dolly birds, mine is a car that had a working life, and was brought back up to shape.

tin

(by dolly birds, i mean the cars that have always been put on concours, and have never seen rain, let alone the rev limiter. like the Campaign that failed to win last years Inters for the first time ever)

what engine is in it Tin?

just your standard 16v lump you'd find in any Mk2 16v Campaign.

plus a 1mm oversize rebore to compensate for uneven wear and Schmidt(?) piston heads.

we think its kicking about 2% more than the standard engine, although, everything performance wise seems to indicate it has alot more than when the car was at its sweet 60k spot all those years ago.
