I agree with those above however i looked into detail of what possible things to expect in owning such a beast. The only things that bother me are the paint drip i just found and the fact ive whacked a massive pothole and the local top notch garage's brand new alignment equipment (some bit of kit so it is) doesn't have any setups for mark V's

After owning a mini, the (occasional) rattles im getting are NOTHING compared lol

The dealers and the crap tailgate design which also allows water to pour in when opened

Cass

I open my tailgate and the water pours down the channels on either side, where its meant to, does yours do something else Cass?

Pi$$es into the car mainly from the drivers side, unless I open it slowly and hold it part open for a few secs until the water has drained off the roof and spolier

Mine doesn't do that at all, if I open the tailgate the water runs down both sides of the channel part, by where the lights mount to the body. Is there something missing, or a damaged tailgate rubber or something on yours? I just spoke to another friend of mine who also doesn't have any problem with water getting in?

Oh and do you have a sunroof? Maybe its a blocked drainway?

I dont dislike that much about it to be honest, its more niggles rather than problems...

Agree on the drivers window and getting wet - just dont open it before I reverse of the drive and have pulled off now
Boot never shutting properly on its own, I dont mean it needs to be slammed just a real gentle push but the amount of times I have to re-shut it!

Apart from that - from factory it didnt look like it does now which I think it should have

I read a similar thread the other day on the new Leon, I was suprised to hear the have removed the bonnet strut, surely thats going backwards, the old LCR had one!

I DONT DISLIKE ANYTHING!

I can make a list of things that could be better but that would no doubt increase production costs and therefore the retail price.
If they were available as extras i would choose:

- Bigger brake calibers
- Bigger brakes
- Fully colour-coded bumpers (non-ED30)
- Red "GTI" stitching on seats to replace current embossed GTI on headrest
- Black front VW badge
- Smoked / darker rear lights
- Some more red highlights in the interior

Infact, i trully love my GTI. I think its a fun drive, understated by many and great looking. I have to hand it to the VW engineers who created such a great and fun car! If you stand back and look at what they have achieved you will no doubt have admiration for them. When the car first was launched, it recieved nothing but praise. Many compared it to the original, which is an achievement itself. Ok, so it may not be as fast as the compertition but that should not be seen as a bad thing. As a complete package it is the best (which is why it always comes out at the top).

Its just like an extension of me now.
I clean it every other day, look after it, make sure it is secure and feed it the best (v-power). I dont think i've felt like that about a car before.

One thing is for sure, the car that will replace my GTI in the future will have to be something special to get me out of my GTI.

i dislike holding the petrol cap whilds filling her up, so much so that i have taken it off the rubber stringy thing......and i know it clips on the top but refuse to do that as it "might" scratch.

diesel sound on start up is abit embarassing  :embarassed: :embarassed:
