Bigger Brake Calipers?
« on: 12 May 2008, 01:45 »
Im looking at getting some bigger break calipers put on.
What are my choices?

After some the same size as the Leon Cupra or similar.

As you wrote, you want the something like the Leon cupra brakes, Audi S3 or the R32 set up

I would be tempted with a R32 front brake setup - shame there are not many about 2nd hand

....Er, I did some development work with them so was given an unbelievable 'deal' which they asked me not to publicise. I think a set of 4-pot fronts (the GTI isn't heavy enough to need 6-pots unless you have an international racing licence!!) with ss-braided hoses, fluid etc, will cost you about £1,700. Not cheap but fecking worth it in my opinion (easy for me to say!!). Tarox(?) are also excellent but AP's have the longstanding reputation. AP Racing make F1 clutches, NASCAR brakes etc etc, even the Veyron calipers - They know what they are doing.

You will doubtless have already noticed that I only use specialists after much research and only if I'm happy and confident in the individual people. It's like having a dedicated and honest back-up team who care. As a consequence I get enthusiastic about them - But for good reason! I love my GTI and want to keep it so I get it looked after by the best I can find. I was just lucky with my VW dealer.

Aren't I a saddo :nerd:

These look lovely on a Seat, but they are meant for $x$'s and not hot hatches. Droolworthy look though
