Oh, and Leeds isn't too far away from me in the north of Sheffield, so I guess we could meet at Awesome GTI, say around the 7th of June and compare cars

Yeah I would agreee with what most of you said above! its very hard to grasp exactly what a car is like until you spend some time with it. I know I have said differently in the past but maybe the DSG is the way to go with a Gti/Ed30

p.s. Sorry Hurdy.. in Portugal on the 7th

Been lucky in being able to drive one of these of late:-

TT quattro 3.2 roadster (same engine as R32?) Great engine lovely growl, superb sound track. The power output is much more linear than the ED30.
Where the ED30 builds up, until you  get a rush at 5000 revs to the red line. The TT was not as well planted as the ED30 and felt more of a cruiser.

Mind you borrowed one of these too. And the soundtrack is even better again!! :afro:

2.7 Boxster not the GT3 lol

How would you compare the performance between the ED30 and the Boxster. Does the Boxster feel quicker?

No!!!

They do handle well and you can carry a little more speed through the corners, but they are nowhere near as fast. I drove the Boxster S just over a year ago and from memory even that (290bhp and same weight as GTI) didn't feel as fast from memory. Quality is spot on though

Oh and forgot to mention, I'm off to have a spin in a new TT tomorrow too

I'm suprised that you didn't find it "planted" with 4WD :undecided:

A remapped Ed30 would easily keep up with a 911 Carerra 2 (3.6model) as my mates got one and it used to be on about the same level as my old LCR which is slower than the Ed30.

Edit: when I say keep up I think it would be quicker
