spark plugs
« on: 28 April 2008, 11:18 »
in the past i've used plugs that have had 4 electrodes such as the NGK's

this time i got some Champion EON 5 plugs but they only have 1 electrode.

anyone had these before? does the gap need setting or are they pre-set?

If it's a 16v youu'll struggle to find any other plugs but the NGK 4 electrode ones

In the past ive used the NGK ones with the 4 like you say, but last week I ordered some off GSF for my 16v.

Got the parcel yesterday to find 4 Bosch ones. They have a Platnium Electrode with one - not four.

On the pack, it says the gap is 0.6mm.  Not sure if this is what its meant to be, but im putting them in when the weather is good.

How often should the plugs be changed

Hmmmm, every six months i'd guess???

Every service.

They would probably still work after a couple of years though!

Every 20K-30K miles or so, I believe. I always stick with the OEM spark plugs. I've heard bad things about other aftermarket plugs.

For my car, the US-spec 2.0 ABA 8v, I use Bosch Silber FR8DS plugs.
