Keep checking the for sale sections as you can get a cheapie or breaking car .

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

surely a late spec car would be better for wiring purposes?

well yes and no.

-if using oem vw management then yes a late car would be ideal
-if running on aftermarket management (emerald, mbe, dta, motec etc etc)   then it makes no differance at all as they are wired up independantly of the vehicles wiring loom.

16v would be better than a 8v as the 8v fuel pump is only good for 200bhp where as the 16v system is good for 330bhp so if you got an 8v you would have to change to 16v fuel system anyway.

I started with a 89gti 16v and used the Qpeng system so wiring is not an issue as the kit comes pre wired for your car. Plug it in and fire it up.

I did mine myself and now looks like this.

yeah the kjet pumps (early 8v and all 16v) are well up to the job but the digifant pump will handle over 200bhp without tailing off if its in good condition (people say 200bhp on digi pumps is maximum but they handle over this capably in my experiance(3 mk2 20vts all rolling roaded and show no lean mixtures at high rpm.)

corrado G60 and VR6 pumps will replace the digi pump and these are a very strong pump!
