As it's had a smash, and with those seats, it suggests it's been driven and thrashed around by a boy racer.  Good price, but personally speaking, it's not a vehicle that would interest me.

Having bought and sold so many mk 5 GTi's in the past. That price is about spot on. all long as it has good service history, alloys in good Nick, then i would say yes, finding a very well spec'd car in a GTi is hard to find, then go for it, you could try getting tax and a tank of gas etc, but i doubt the dealer will budge much on that figure.

Nothing wrong with those seats, someone obvioulsy had money to burn ticking the Recaro option when new.

I know it was smashed cos before I was buying mine, I contacted the seller...he admitted that it had been Cat D repaired...I said thanks but no thanks...having previously been bitten by a dodgy 3 series.  Car ran perfectly, although 3k in the engine mounting broke! but thereafter the main problem was selling the car on.

Hi Mike, sorry i missed your post, thanks for the offer, but i have a car to p/ex which i have had no luck in selling privately.


Anyway, an update, the car i mentioned in my first post was sold before i got a chance to look at it, as were the next 2 cars i found locally.
Im getting a little pee'd off now, but the search will go on.
