rub strips on golf

does any one know if  new rub strips come painted  from vw or do i have to get them painted myself and how do they fit is there any holes they have to line up to. iam thinking of raising mine up a few mm to cover some  bad etching in the paint work do to polish or something being left in the gap not by me tho

you can get the strips from the stealer either in black plastic or primed ready for painting

part # for primed:
front left - 1J3 853 515 B GRU
front right - 1J3 853 516 B GRU
rear left - 1J3 853 535 B GRU
rear right - 1J3 853 536 B GRU

they just stick on so I don't see why you couldnt move them up a bit

that would look a bit odd as they will be higher than the ones on the bumpers

thanks chaps i still might be able to polish the etching out with the rotary polisher yet and moving them up was the last resort id only have to move them up 2mm if that theres years worth of polish and gunk behind there whats best to get the off dental floss ?  thnks kev  :smiley:

i always thought they we're held on with clips with holes in the doors but dont hold me to that! cars lookin good by the way vwkevgti, i always see it when i go to my mates on lower gladstone wish i could be bothered to keep mine that clean!

watch the sump ask guy he went over a some toilet paper and it carcked!!!! :laugh: :laugh:

take them off and get strips off a polo 6n2, thats what im doing, alot thinner and sleek ;)
Will always love my mk4 but she had to go...225 Quattro TT in its place....but its still black (she lives on in spirit!)

definately no clips on the mk4s, the mk3s did have them though

thanks again chaps and guy_gti  its coming on nice the car is still need more time on the rotory polisher tho and need to lower it on coilovers and a milltech then  iam sure ill get it on a show and shine stand some where. i see your car down there some times and me bro allways tells me when its down there lol after hes taken the dog he says that bad ass golf is down the bottom again
