Im in sevenoaks.
I think I've sorted it, went back to my local vw dealer and he thinks he has found the correct aerial. There going to order it in and let me have a look to check its the right one.

I was under the impression that the second wire is a 12v switched feed from the headunit to power the amplifier in the aerial base. Think i saw it on Club GTi site. Thats how mine is wired up anyway!

I think your right Stuey, a 12v feed for the amplifed base.

deffo are right, one wire is 12v, the other is the aerial coax. the aerial grounds through the roof :wink:

the daily still has the "dog sh!t metal thing" in the wing, just snapped off  :cool:

Lol you should stick a wire coat hanger down the hole in the shape of a diamond!!

Still got the problem VW still hasn't managed to find the part number for the correctr aerial. Does anyone out there know the VW part number for the twin cable Mk2 bee sting?

If so what is the part number from VW?

Hirschman do a direct replacment. After 3 years of no radio reception I got one and can get perfect radio reception. Only needed to fit the base as the wires were ok. You can get one from here http://www.raysmith.co.uk/Aerials/921768001/
