For the German market you could have either style of wheels.

If you look at the Volkswagen.de Konfigurator you can still spec either the Edition 30 or the Pirelli GTI. In fact you have been able to do this for quite a while.
Bye Bye Edition 30

At last some kind of response from VWUK. I’m expecting my official feedback this week.

I’ll keep you posted... Hotrod

Perhaps i should colour code, get an Edition 30 badge and some tinted clusters and mine will look exact!.
The only problem though Phil is that you would still know that it's not an ed30, whereas I can sit pretty with 300bhp on tap

I know, but i could of bought for my 2nd GTi an ed30, but .3 of a second here and there is not the be all and end all with the GTi.
Im really happy with what ive bought, i wanted a high spec GTi and not a poor mans basic ed30. Unfortunatly 25k with the toys i wanted in a ed30 is just not worth it. i'd rather have the more toys which makes my car more desirable then some other 21-22k import ed30 import job.
I could of bought private  for about 20k but couldnt get the money for my Passat that i was offered from my dealer.
Its easy to get my GTi up on pace with a quick visit to Revo, but im not really interested, i will however give a good account of my un touched GTi at santa pod to see how much slower mine is against the rest of modded mk5's

You seem to spend alot of time justifying why you bought your GTi Phil, maybe there is a bit of doubt in your mind

I thought that

Ive only answered it because someone asked the same question.Like i said, i could of had one, but the ed30 badge and red stitching isnt enough for me to buy one that has no decent spec to it. Im not into modding and blowing the arse out of it which nearly all ed30 owners wanna do, and thats up to them.I just enjoy the car for what it is, and still think the Standard car in the right colour and spec, is as nicer car to look at. Just my opinion.

Remember i have one of these cars before, if i didnt like it , i wouldnt of opted for another  especially the same spec  :smug:

Very nice,...........looks

I stuck with the silver monzas as the inserts are steel grey and go very nicely with my colour choice too!

It does not float my boat, i prefer the Pescara's.  It seems to make it look as if it is sitting high.  Tractor -ish

Phil, its a bit more than just an ed30 badge and red stitching and like you I've now had 2 GTI's, my last like yours was a laser blue dsg, lovely motor hence why I went for the ed30 second time around. I really like the look of both motors and kind of like the colour coded look and the extra punch the ed30 motor can give although the standard GTI will always have a special place in my heart

I do a lot of mileage, about 25k miles a year and to be honest I find the extra 60bhp or so a real help while trawling the M3 most days, you're welcome to try it out one day after all belonging to the forum is all about sharing experiences??? (before anyone spots the extra 60bhp or so comment, this is down to my latest toy - bluefin!)

I like the look of your motor Phil, especially the colour!
