because young people prefere mk5 gti than r32 as its turbo'd and alot faster after a remap. in the dry  :grin: :grin: :grin:

I'm yet to meet a performance problem that couldn't be solved by simply throwing more cc's at it. Normally aspirated V8s are the way to go, turbos are for geeks. Might be a problem dropping e.g. a Mustang lump in a Mk2 though.....

Been done mate! well it was a TVR V8, but a V8 nonetheless!

TVR V8s are Ford lumps, aren't they? If it'll fit in a Mk1 then a Mk2 should be possible I'd imagine - with a lot of metal bashing of course. Should think it would be a bit of a handful in any case - corners would be a challenge!

No they were originally Rover/Oldsmobile based engines but went the same route as the Range Rover ones and went up to 4.4 litres in the end.

Bit more compact than a Ford lump, then? Still a challenge for the average home mechanic I would think....

my 1.8t is running ta 18mph most times I drive it, maybe I should get an r32  :grin:
Will always love my mk4 but she had to go...225 Quattro TT in its place....but its still black (she lives on in spirit!)
