MK 16v front pipe question.
« on: 21 March 2008, 20:21 »
Today I've been trying to change the front pipe on my mk 2. The first bit with the bolts on the manifold went ok. I then seperated it from the middle section. However now I can't get the bloody thing out - the gap between the subframe (I think), steering column and gear linkage isn't big enough.

I've tried making more space by taking the three bolts out of the gear linkage and moving it along - but there's still not enough room

I'm wondering if you usually have to take something else off or drop the subframe a touch - is there something I'm missing and could anyone give advice? I don't suppose it helps the car is only on ramps and there's not a lot of room to manouvre.
