Throttle body cleaning!

Hi - Just bought me a 95 gti - gave her some plugs, oil, fuel filter, oil filter, dizzy cap, rotor arm and shes running a lot better but there is still a very slight flat spot - I have heard you lot talk about the throttle body - is it a big job? whats involved? what tools do I need etc!

remove intake pipe, allen key socket and remove 4 bolts that hold the body onto the inlet manifold and its pretty easy take you 40 mins.

Just use some carb cleaner and clothe / kitchen roll, and wipe all the gunk out of it.

Not half as hard as it sounds

Is this the part directly behing throttle coil?

It's the part that the throttle cable is attached to. Take the throttle cable off and then the 4 allen bolts and remove it as suggested. Carb cleaner will clean it if you leave it on but it puts all the crap through your inlet system which isn't good, also it can't clean behind the butterfly flap. Best to take it off. If you have an 8v gti then clean out the AFM (air flow meter) which is the boxy thing attached to where the air inlet comes from your airbox
