The small prints a definite... A friend of mine recently purchased a car from a well known national Car Supermarket chain.

The warranty provided states that if your car doesn't come with FSH you must service it within 6000 miles after buying the car. But if it does have FSH then you can stick with the manufacturers service intervals.

Turns out that a fully stamped main dealer service book doesn't count as FSH, you actually need to produce every VAT invoice for every service. So the car was sold to her as having FSH because of the book (they didn't pass on any invoices), but the warranty company which turns out to be a wholly owned subsidiary of said car supermarket only count FSH if she has all the invoices.

Loads of people are being stung by it at the moment so be careful.

I used Warranty Direct for my previous Boxster and can only speak good of them. I had main dealer rate cover and the monthly cost was way below the £750 OPC cost for an annual warranty. Granted there was a £5k limit on claims so if the engine went, I'd have had to fork out the difference  My car had a FSH with the supplying dealer and although I had copies of all service invoices, I never had to produce them as the supplying dealer confirmed all the work. My claims with Warranty Direct were dealt with immediately and without question

maybe its cause your letter is eight months old.

Either way,

The guy wants a warranty for 12k miles per year

so whats the cost of that, according to your letter.

£ 422 pounds, which is £ 5 pounds more than i said it was.

Did it take you all afternoon to find the letter and scan it in, mate you need a hobby.

You try and help someone out.

Nice attitude by the way, is it VW sales or VW customer service you work in, seems to be a general attitude problem in both departments....

Sorry would of loved to have replied earlier but some of have work to do, rather than sitting on a forum all day.

I am wondering about extended warranty myself but the issue of modified or not and VW playing up if they think the modification has caused the problem...

At the end of the day its only the electronics I am bothered about and maybe the DSG - e.g. Air Con packs up again which is quite common and thats a hefty bill.

VW Dont play that game mate.

If you have for instance a remap and the drivers window regulator fails, its still covered.

Shame they dont do just an electrical warranty at a cheaper rate

Surely if you had a remap and the DSG played up they would blame the fault on that - how would you prove otherwise....
