However, if you've driven much on very fast unrestricted roads in Europe and experienced the very obvious safety benefits of DRL's, you might revise your opinion. The mandatory DRL law coming in 2011 is for perceived safety reasons. 
So they would be pretty useless in the UK then 
....Of course not "useless". My point was that DRL's were first introduced in Germany and the autobahns are a good example to illustrate their benefit. It doesn't mean that they are
ONLY of benefit on unrestricted high speed roads.
You have only to experience what I have described to realise their benefit. Or have you already had such experience of them and disagree?
