Clutch and sunroof

Recently I had the citch cable changed as the pedal was stiff and noisy.
This has improved the situation considerably but today I noticed that there is a slight noise on take up.
Is this anything to worry about? I really hope that it is not the sign of the clutch plate going somewhere in the next few months. There is plenty of bite but it is probably the original clutch at 105000m but used for mostly motorway miles.

The sunroof is prone to rattle. Does anyone else have this problem and any idea how to fix it>

Thanks for that. Although I always thought that if the thrust bearing was noisy it would do it when the clutch pedal is depressed. I wonder if it is a big job if it is the release bearing?

there both the same mate -just everybody uses different names for them .it can make a noise when it isnt depressed .

5 minute job to fit as its no where near the clutch plate/cover... its hiding under the green cover on the box side!

yep remove the green plate unclip the fork get a magnet and remove the bearing

i always swap the rod around what runs through the center as it gets rounded

and they snap/crack.... mine did and it took weeks of searching as it was hidden!!

Great news today. My Golf GTI passed the MOT test and the examiner says he has not seen many cars in such good condition and the exhaust emissions were only 0.025 as against 0.2 allowable. Result
