That's based on using Awesome mate.  They want about £270 just to replace the bushes, or £470 to replace bushes and ARB.  I can get the price down a bit as I'm supplying my own ARB, but then I need to add on the cost of fitting springs.  Plus I need four tyres fitting and balancing.

fecking hell!!

my local VW DEALER only charged me £50 to replace my ARB bushes mate - they're taking the urine!!!   got the invoice to prove it!!

and they only charged £130 to replace the rear beam bushes!!

Thing is, I don't know if that's the price for replacing the bushes, or the entire control arms.  VW quoted even higher!

i'd ask them to break down their quote as it seems very high; if it includes new wishbones etc then its about right

I think they said it was cheaper to replace the wishbones than just the bushes.

Figured it might save a few quid getting the springs done at the same time, as it might help round up some of the time, and they'll be taking bits of the front apart anyway!

And, 18's without lower springs looks crap.

Got a response from Awesome.

Me:

"I was in a month or two ago getting my front brakes upgraded, and the mechanic checked and confirmed my ARB and control arms were shot.  I got a quote off you for the work, just getting those parts fixed with standard bits.

I've got an Eibach front ARB coming soon, and plan to get some Eibach springs as well to drop the car a little.

Could I get a quote on fitting the front ARB (own), springs (own) all around, and replacing the bushes in the control arms with Powerflex (would buy from you) ones please?

Car is a '99 Golf GTI"

Awesome:

" hi there,

In doing all the work together you will save on the alignment and some time here and there, so the total labour for doing all the work (including geo setup) would be £340.75+VAT and £67.10+VAT for the powerflex bushes."
