Servicing Cost????
« on: 17 February 2008, 20:50 »
Hi, I've got an X reg 1.8T with just over 51k on the clock.

What sort of price would you expect to pay for a big service at an independant garage?

Just wondering whether to do it now while I've got a little but of spare cash.

so it hasn't done many miles but its been over 12 months; i reckon for peace of mind i'd get it serviced.  i'm assuming you've recently bought the car?

I bought it last August not done many miles in it but might have to start doing a few more soon due to work. Think If I can get it done for £200 or less then I'll go for it. cheers for the help.

I got my 80k one done for £190. Ended up cost £280 in the end with parts and labour for bits a bobs that had gone wrong.

This WAS NOT at VW and was a decent honest local chap I know.

Hopefully not, I knew there was a problem with mine (wheel bareing) as everytime I went above 30 (pretty much all the time then :D) it sounded like a jumbo jet engine had just started up in my boot and was about to take off.

Yea that sounds like it would set the alarm bells ringing! Nothing seems wrong with the car although I'm going to ask them to give the throttle body a quick clean. I had a new DV and MAF fitted last autumn too. Had a civic type r before and wasnt quite sure that the performance of the golf was what it should be but new Maf and DV made it much better. I know the golf isnt as quick but it took a bit of gettin used to it being quieter more comfortable and smoother power delivery as well.
