I can recommend Halfords Satin Black. Keyed up the surface with some wet a dry. Happy with the finish so gonna try it on the car tomorrow, daylight permitting.

There's a tradition for GTI's to have black badges since the Mk1. That's a smart satin finish.

i wanted to get a spare one before i did mine, but im thinking whats the point, if i need to return it to silver or dont like it, then ill get one...

Finally got round to putting it on in the daylight. I'm pretty happy with it, makes the front look more business like

....It's a subtle change but does make the front look a bit 'meaner' and is a much better alternative to debadging as some of those crazy Americans do.
