They never leave notes  and the ones you catch in the act get all uppity when they're found out too   and if you ever have an accident where someone clearly hits you in a carpark, beat the Fcuking sh!t out of them there and then as they always deny liability afterwards

Its a pity to hear about your misforune.

Some advice.

Make sure that the person working on the car takes a good look around the car (looking for scratches etc) then signs a contract stating responsibility so when you get the car back and there is a scratch somewhere... Blame him.

Also. Depending on wether you are leaving your keys with them or not, write down or photograph the cars clock. In other words your MPG and speedo and trip counters and mileage so you can compare it on return of the car. They like to "test" the car sometimes.... (WHile you at it. Make the guy working on the car sign for that too.)

Then obviously let insurance know. lol.

Hope to see some pics of her/him when you get it back.

Thanks for the replies and good advice - funnily enough, i was actually in the car while it all happened!!!  I was franticly blowing the horn but they still decided that they'd reverse into the car.  Didn't really want to cause a seen as there were kids as well - but to be fair, so far they have been co-operative, but just hope they claim responsibility and everything is sorted out quickly with no hurdles.

Its going to a vw approved body shop, but you can never be too stringent, so i will take pics before I take it in and of the speedometer.  And will post pics after all work is done.  Bit too depressed to take any pics now

I know how you feel. My mom had just picked up her brand new 3 series and we were taking it for a drive (to show the family etc) and we stopped and this lady in front of us obviously didnt see us behind and while waiting to cross a busy main road her car started coming backwards towards ours and my mom hooted and screamed but the BMW hooter is useless and so muffled the lady heard nothing and kept coming.

My dad ordered my mom to reverse but being reasonable late in the afternoon the sun was shining through the back of the car. So my mom was too scared to reverse cos she could not see behind us.

Basically she floored the car and pulled out from behind the stupid woman and my dad got out and still her car was rolling backwards and after hitting her window she finally like woke up and realised she aint the only person around. But I know how you feel, seeing something about to happen and you cant stop it. Fortunatly with our BMW we had the luck of pulling out. All of this happened in the space of ten seconds.

We also had out Mitsubishi Pajero stoned by a bunch of teenagers and I know how depressed my dad was after that cos the Pajero is his pride and joy. So much so that the went back the following night and using a SLR Camera he photographed the teens and managed to get the parents (who were all extremely wealthy) to pay the damages at the best bodyshop in Cape Town.

We have had bad luck with cars. Even when my ma wrote off two 18" Monza rims. But the point is that cars are so dangerous and I know its upsetting but rather be happy she didnt hit you at 100Km per hour or 80miles and do damage to your family. Its a car. Even if you love it more than your wife. It can always be repaired.

I should become a counsellor.....  :lipsrsealed:

Thanks for the bit of counselling there!  Think you should have a seperate part of the forum to yourself for those who have been misfortunate with their gtis, or who have had to sell their cars for unforseen reasons!  You are right though, could have been worse .

Looks like everything is going smoothly though.  Third party has officially claimed responsibility so i won't loose my no claims, and therefore don't have to pay for the damages.  Dropped the car off at the body shop couple of days ago.  They had plenty of nice juicy motors there (loads of lotus exige, elises, audis and a couple pf bentleys) but obviously mine looked the best (from the back at least, for now!!!).  Even got a nice hire car as a replacement - expecting to end up with a crummy vw fox or similar, but they gave me a standard manual gti instead (which is an excellent car, but makes me miss mine especially the dsg and extra grunt).  Hope everything gets fixed so the car will be as it was before.
