how much was it for the exhaust, the powerflow?

£300 notes for a single exit ehaust ... or £320 (what I paid) for a exhaust with twin pipes. Told them exactly how I wanted it to sound and everything and it was spot on! Makes hardly any noise on idle, and sounds like the end of the world over 4000rpm!

Is it custom made then?

Not ridiculously loud ... something that roars nicely, gurgles gently at idle and pops when I floor it etc.

For a 16v GTi ABF

have a look at this and see if that is what you are after...

Yup it's a one-off ... you tell them exactly what you want and they'll try their best to meet your specification. You also get a LIFETIME GUARANTEE ... so anything goes wrong with the zaust, they'll sort you a new one.
