Chaps.

This fuel pump relay thingy, where is it, what does it look like, how to change it.

Went out today ready for work, started the b*stard car up, let it tick over while I cleaned the screen. F*cking thing cut out and refused to start again. It seems to be totally random, no rhyme or reason as to when, why is cuts out.

Dolly, hopefully you are a star!

Just a quickie. The position marked on the relay board indicated to be the fuel pump relay has 63 on it. Does this have any significance?

To me it certainly sounds like the fuel pump relay is cutting out.
I am not sure where it is on the valver or what number it is but it should be near the fuse box. Try searching the forum for the 'fuel pump relay'
It should click on and off when the ignition is turned on to the 1st position as the fuel pump primes the system.

I can hear a click from the relay area so I assume that the relay is OK. F*cking thing is dead as a nit now, should've kept my Mini.

number is for identification i think.. we seem to be going down the line of fueling issues here, i reckon they run constant pressure, so at the moment with it dead if it was mean, id go to the engine bay discount a fuel line at the easiet point and get a friend to turn the ignition and maybe crank the car .. if you have fuel pressure youll know about it, if you dont id maybe get a new relay as they are good for spares and not ovely expensive, if it still fails to produce fuel, then the lift pumps .. on some models like the 1.3 i think im right in saying there are 2.. i dont know if yours will have 1 or 2 though.

Folks.

I have just gone out to do the usual things when a car won't start and maybe found the reason why.

Plug number two had a little oil in the shaft, number three was bathing in the stuff. one and four are as you would expect.

please tell me that this ain't a major problem and that i can fix it easily.

Realy starting to wish i had bought a ford.
