RAW Carbon Fibre wins

Still hasn't arrived yet though

I have a sneaky feeling you will end up painting it, the outside anyway. It's going to be very bling

Haha. I'm waiting to see what yours looks like. Some more bling may appear on mine. Or I may get those Black CH's and go the black carbon fibre route.

Hurdy, [WOW!! I stepped outside the Mk5 forum!!!!] You are pioneering new ground here - Your CF is silver and not black.

The main consideration is that when CF is in a big area horizontally, the light on it makes it look quite glittery in real life (as opposed to photos). OSIR's carbon products are deeply lacquered. However, your CF is silver not black, so might look more subtle.

IF you paint any of the topside, painting just the side 'wings' looks best.

Double or single skin? - Use extra fixings if single.

I was faced with the same decision but already had carbonfibre nose mask and VW badge and thought I'd be attracting far too much attention if carbon bonnet was exposed. Of course I hate attracting attention to myself you may have noticed!

Hi RR,

I'll probably keep the CF as it is for starters and see if it grows on me. Like you said painting the outer sections would be my next option.

I went for a double skinned one after seeing yours, although I didn't opt for the bonnet vent.

I've noticed that your car is extremely subtle, so as not to draw attention to it, the quad exhaust, bonnet vent, carbonfibre front bits - they're almost invisible

....It's only noticeable to GTI-porn perverts on specialist web sites like this one!

Dave at the TT shop said that my CF parts should be here sometime this week

He knows that the lower rear valance section isn't meant to work with the CF part I've ordered and is working on a solution for fitment. If he hasn't worked it out by the time I go down I'll probably take it and find a way myself - even if it means replacing the lower valance. :undecided:

....Hurdy - The expectation is the shipment from Hong Kong will arrive this week but it could be early next week. The expectation is that my CF exhaust trim is on the same shipment.

....It might still be this week, Hurdy. I'm only saying don't count on it - It's up to the shippers and UK Customs and not the TTshop. It may still arrive this week.
