starting problems

CAN ANY ONE HELP PLEASE?
Iv got a 1983 gti with a 2.0 8v it was starting fine but was really lumpy,would tick over but if you reved it would nearly cut out , problem is that it wont start at all now and got no fuel coming into the fuel filter can hear the relay clicking but no fuel pumping to filter is it just the pump knacked ? can i test it? or could it be something else? please help

Have you checked the fuse for the fuel pump?

theres a fuse and a relay.

do you have a haynes manual?

can you hear the pump running?  if so it could be all clogged up with rust, whats your fuerl filler neck like

have got it running was a dodgy connection on the pump have took it to the garage and he says its the valve/vacum on the distributor does any one know where to  get one form have been told you have to buy the whole distributor?
