New car
« on: 24 January 2008, 17:46 »
Picked up a Silver 3door GT TDI 110 today.

Very happy, the fuel gauge doesn't move...

Trying to source original radio and a parcel shelf.

Also how do you get to the bulbs behind the heater controls, as there is no light coming through them.

Turn the heater control to 2 (or 3?!?, so its at 12 o'clock IIRC) and wrap it in masking tape (to prevent scratching) then the dial knob pulls out (be uber careful). With long nose pliers you can reach the [tiny] bulb inside. Theres only one bulb.

The bulb is quite tough, but if it breaks you'll have a fiddly a job getting it out.

Dont bother with an orgianal radio. Just get a decent aftermarket HU.

Always good to hear a new MK4 is about, bringing it to Brands on Wednesday?

Yeah I might do. May even borrow my Dad's sat nav and come up to Esso.

I want the original HU so all the blue and red lights match up.

Oh and Conker, thanks for the info.

The way I got my bulb out was by putting a rubber band around it, twisting it so it was propery tight and then giving it a tug!

That's very generous. where bouts are you and are you coming to brands on Wed? Also will that control a CD changer?

Just replaced that bulb and still no lights. It lighted up when it was half in but when fully in there's no light.
