They say you need to re-allign the throttle body with vag com after youve taken it off for a clean

If you read the link i put up it says you CAN re allign it using vag-com if you have it, BUT YOU DONT HAVE TO.
Because the ecu will reset itself after 20 miles, Ive spoken to three other people who have also done this without the need for vag com.

Great post - and I want to do this very soon.  Aiming for this weekend!

Have read the link to the other forum that shows details of how to do this task too and there is some debate over whether you should be able to move the butterfly on a DBW engine, since it is controlled using a stepped motor.

Some say its ok to "force" it in effect, others say to get someone to sit in the car, with ignition on (but engine off) and to press the throttle so that it opens the butterfly so it can be cleaned.

What do you guys think, and I want to do this, but dont want to screw up the throttle body!  I have a DBW engine, AUM.

BUMPing this post.

Anyone got any advice on my post above, regarding cleaning throttle bodies on DBW cars?  :undecided:

Hoping to do this task this weekend, so any advice would be much appreciated.

Sorry to BUMP it - not trying to resurrect the dead!

I would get some one to sit in the car and put there foot on the throttle tbh mate. Why force it if you dont have to? Defo worth doing this my car drives soooo much better now

I did this on my car today and also sorted the boost problem out (turned out to be the chip the tuner put in my ecu)
Will always love my mk4 but she had to go...225 Quattro TT in its place....but its still black (she lives on in spirit!)

lo lads! i done this on my car today but i dont no if this is normal,  When i drive a 2k/3k and take my foot of the throttle it seems to hold the revs and drop very slowly is that normal?

my throttle was black!  just want to make sure this is correct or i may have to take it back of again :P

Thanks for the post on the throttle body clean

Cleaned my TB today on 1.8t agu engine. All went well, it was filthy! I don't have access to vag com so I just took it for a drive bout 30 miles hoping to reset however it now idles @ 1400 rpm... sometimes up as far as 1600. Has anyone else had this problem? Theres a major improvement in the smoothness of the drive now just the idle problem still remains :undecided:.

Any suggestions?
