I thought it wasa something to to wih the chiller thingy in the Glovebox?
It always seems to come from that side, but only when cornering.

Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

Maybe it is a safety feature so that when you start to nod off cos you set the air con too high and you start to swerve off the road the cold blast of air wakens you up
