Connected with a bit of rubber tube left over from my old Bay window camper washers and seems to be working. Only did a couple of mile and it went up above 15mpg when previously it hadn't got past 8.... :smiley:

Rubjonny is that the ISV that sits just in front of the inlet manifold below the throttle cable???? All I need to sort out now is my weird high revving problem.

yep thats the one, ignore the way mine is plumbed in though as I had to swap & change with the breather hoses to make it all fit nicely with the 2.0 rocker cover :)

High ide issues are often caused by the idle switch not clicking when the throttle is closed, the wiring to the throttle switches snapped behind the throttle body and/or the throttle cable being fitted too tight, the linkage should hit up against the stop firmly :)

Cheers buddy you got a link to that guide.Only does it on start up though after a couple of mins driving it idles perfect.

Worth replacing the ECU temp sender with a newun from VW, on post 88 cars its blue on pre88 its white. on my piccy you can see the blue plug for it in the coolant flange on the front of the cylinder head.
The parts dude might try to tell you the blue one is only for cars with a CAT, ignore him and buy it anyway ;)

Only change it when the car is cold, else coolant will spray everywhere  :grin:

it could well be, but I'd try the other stuff before you mess about with it.  Best way to clean em is by submerging in poetrol whilst its plugged in n buzzing, swish it around tillthe black gunk stops coming out.  Spray some kind of spray lube in each hole to re-lube it and refit!

Cheers mate, just had a look at your other page aswell, will hunt out a co2 meter before I have a go at that. Ebay here I come....Also will get that ECU temp sender next time I'm down VW.
