good point mate. i try to go on veedubs but havent been able to recently. I also access this site most days (as i am a relative newbie to vw's and need all the tips possible) so people do use this site (if lauras still around)

alright gaz,

i used to get about 120 out of my old mk2 8v. i reckon this is a pretty average top speed. 16v probably bout 130 maybe.

I asked my boss (I work at veedub uk head office), he said he thinks the official figure was about 119 mph, for 8 valve 1.8, I had a mk2 GTI on a H plate, had it off the clock (about 123 mph I reckon)
